Approximately 5 million Shan people live in Asia. Currently, over 99 percent are Buddhist, leaving only about 15,000 Christians. The Shan assistance project is committed to the start of a church planting movement among the Shan people. In order to establish this movement, project workers will do the following:

Pray with Shan believers

Recruit foreign workers to work alongside Shan believers in evangelizing

Provide training materials and programs to equip evangelists among the Shan to go out and begin new church plants

Reach out to people with the love of Christ
The hope is to see hundreds of new church plants in the Shan villages and towns.
