Disaster relief work in the Qinghai Province in Yushu continues due to the 6.9 magnitude earthquake on April 14, 2010. With 2,183 confirmed dead and over 12,000 injured, needs will persist for weeks and months to come. Up to three years may be needed for full reconstruction of the town with many local residents living in makeshift tent-homes for at least one winter and probably two winters before moving back to a semblance of normality. Specifically, the current focus of the relief effort is on three fronts: distribution of emergency supplies, provision for clean water, and the possible establishments of a rehabilitation center. Those involved with the relief efforts work with appointed agencies to assist in whatever ways possible.
